Now that you heard the news that Greaterthan as a global collective is being composted (in case you missed it, see our last newsletter), here is what that means and what’s next - including for you, as a subscriber to this email list.

Greaterthan has transitioned into a network of distinct initiatives in different regions of the world, that remain connected through history, shared practice and relationships. Though we’re not continuing as one, the work, purpose and journey of Greaterthan very much continue: in the shape of new collectives, initiatives and solo-endeavors.

The future of this email list

The Weekender as a newsletter will continue as an independent initiative by Susan Basterfield and Ashish Arora, no longer associated with Greaterthan or any of the above initiatives. If you do nothing, you will stay subscribed to the Weekender, a place where the two co-authors share their personal reflections and updates on relevant and interesting events from their ecosystem - in the same style as until now.

Common Ground

A group of Greaterthan members is currently seeding Common Ground, a new, Europe-centric collective. Building on Greaterthan’s tradition, Common Ground’s work combines “consulting” and experimentation: accompanying purposeful leaders and organizations who want to grow differently, while being their own living lab for postgrowth organizing. Key themes they continue to focus on: transforming power, money and relationships.

Greaterthan Aotearoa

Former GT members: Susan Basterfield, Lucia Die Gil, Mary O’Keeffe

Greaterthan Aotearoa is a New Zealand-based team—born as a fractal of the former Greaterthan Collective, and carrying its legacy forward. They help organisations move past traditional "boss-and-employee" hierarchies. At their heart, Greaterthan Aotearoa accompany leaders and teams to explore how to create a more enlivening and positive workplace where people can continuously grow and contribute. By learning to step into full individual agency while sharing real responsibility, teams invite a more mature, collaborative way of working through intentional practice. Manel Heredero based in Spain

Together with a developer from the old Ouishare days (Lucas Lorenzo), Manel has started an AI studio called Common Space. They develop prototypes and enterprise-grade tooling based on open-source stacks where AI is not a technology for personal augmentation, but for collective intelligence and large-scale collaboration.
